this popped up on my facebook newsfeed, it’s just sad.

Oh, but I suppose it’s not nasty when it’s on a man though. There should be a movement where we force men to shave (or wax, it would be more painful) their legs and armpits for a month. I bet they’d get tired of that shit real quick.

"It’s like women want to be men"

we just want to be human, but that is too much for men to handle

Not your body not your concern.

Yo let me tell you a thing.  Women shaving did not become a thing until around the 1920s.  Before then women were all natural when it came to body hair and not one fucker gave a god damned fuck about it.  Why did women suddenly start shaving?  The fashion began to change where skirts became just a taaaaad bit shorter, I say a tad bit because back in the 1920’s a woman showing leg was very risque at the time.  And the razor companies wanted to double their sales market so they started releasing ads that put women in the mindset that if any of their legs showed they should shave their legs to be attractive with the changing fashion.

This became a mute point in the 30s when skirt lengths became longer again, but became an even BIGGER thing when skirt lengths became shorter than they were in the 20s, during the 40s and onward.  Underarm shaving came with the shortening of sleeves and the introduction of dresses that exposed the shoulders.

Literally the construct that “women should shave” is a creation of corporate greed.

There also seems to be a lot of confusion as well on where women shaving downstairs comes from as well.  I’ve heard quite a few myths that porn actresses invented this trend.  But in all actuality there are some old traditions in some cultures located around the North Africa and Middle east where women would remove all excess body hair on the night of their wedding, including southern regions.  With the expansion of other cultures this came to be adopted in major societies.

And I meet so many guys who are like “Women have always shaved since razor blades!  Why should it change!”

Ugh no, it only became a thing in the beginning of the 20th century because razor companies wanted a bigger sales pool.
